Hands-On With a 16-Card Galaxy Projector Night review video preview

I tried this compact galaxy projector on my ceiling to see how several of its interchangeable projection cards looked. The projector has an upward-facing lens, a focus ring on top, and a slide-out card tray. Setup was straightforward in my demonstration: insert a card, slide the tray into place, and adjust the focus for the projection height.

With the room lights off, the images were much easier to see. I demonstrated the Helix Nebula, Orion Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, and what the seller calls the Small Magellanic Cloud. One projection appeared to cover roughly 15 feet of my ceiling, and I used the focus ring to sharpen the image at that distance.

The seller says the projector comes with 16 projection cards. I showed about half of them, so I did not review every included scene. In addition to the nebula cards, I tried a rocket scene and an aurora over a mountain. According to the listing, the full set also includes the Moon, solar system, galaxies, Saturn, Earth, and dinosaur scenes.

My reaction varied from card to card. I liked several of the nebula images, while a few of the other scenes looked a little awkward to me. The cards rotate during projection, and I was able to adjust the rotation speed. This adds movement while the image itself remains the same.

The remote controls the brightness and built-in sounds. I adjusted the brightness during the demonstration, although it took me a moment to find the music button in the dark. The sound I demonstrated had a peaceful outdoor quality, with crickets and birds. The seller lists 29 built-in sounds, but I only tried this one and cannot compare the full selection.

The listing also states that the projector supports Bluetooth 5.3 and automatic shutoff after one, two, or four hours. I did not demonstrate Bluetooth or the automatic shutoff settings in the video, so those are seller-stated features rather than firsthand findings.

For me, the interchangeable space images are the main attraction. The adjustable focus and rotation speed offer some control over the ceiling display, while the nature sound provides another option for a bedroom or quiet setting. The set offers plenty of visual variety, but the appeal of each scene will depend on the individual card.
