HOSTACK Kitchen Hutch Cabinet Review: Assembly, review video preview

I bought the HOSTACK kitchen hutch cabinet to store my printer, paper, cables, a battery and other supplies in my office. The seller markets it as a kitchen pantry, coffee bar and general household storage cabinet, but the layout also works well for an office.

The cabinet arrived in two boxes on different days. I received the smaller box first, and the tracking information was confusing, so I contacted the company. The company responded politely and explained that the second box was still on its way. It arrived later as promised.

The second package is much larger and heavier. I could move the smaller box by myself, but I recommend having someone help with the larger one.

Assembly took me about three hours, including a break. There are plenty of small parts, but I did not find the process especially difficult. The hardest step was turning the assembled upper hutch over and positioning it on the lower cabinet. I needed another person for that step, and it helped to have someone guide the upper section into place.

Pay close attention to the illustration when installing the drawer slides. I installed mine incorrectly and had to remove and reinstall them. That was my mistake, but it is an easy step to get wrong if you move too quickly.

This is MDF furniture rather than solid wood, so I would not describe it as heirloom quality. Still, the finished cabinet feels suitable for its intended purpose. The finish looked good across most of it, although I noticed a small area with visible glue.

The drawers have basic slides without soft-close operation. The cabinet hinges are adjustable and seemed good to me. According to the seller’s listing, the cabinet has four storage cabinets, three deep drawers and a spacious countertop. I keep office supplies in the storage areas, with my printer on the countertop and paper below.

The built-in power section has two electrical outlets and two USB-A ports. I currently use it for my printer and HomePod, which keeps both devices connected in the same area.

I modified the cabinet by drilling a hole in the top for cables, ventilation and a Z-Wave antenna. My modem and computer equipment produce heat inside the cabinet, so I may add a fan later. This modification is specific to my setup and is not part of the standard cabinet.

My wife may also replace the handles. I am comfortable making changes like these because this is not an expensive solid-wood piece.

Overall, I am happy with the HOSTACK cabinet. It fits my office, provides the storage I needed and gives me a useful surface for my printer. Buyers should expect assembly to take several hours, a heavy second box and at least one step that requires another person.
