Ecraft 24 x 36 Self-Healing Cutting Mat: My review video preview

I bought this Ecraft cutting mat for two jobs: demonstrating products on a measured surface and cutting materials without damaging the table underneath. To test the seller’s self-healing claim, I made a deliberate cut with a razor. The mark stayed visible, but it did not leave a ridge I could feel.

The working grid measures 24 by 36 inches, which gives me enough room to show the scale of products during demonstrations. The mat is double-sided, with gray on one side and black on the other. One side has inch markings, while the other has metric markings. Both sides also have angle guides.

For the test, I pressed fairly hard with my razor and cut an X near the 23-inch mark. I used enough pressure to move the mat on the table as I cut.

The X was clearly visible afterward, and rubbing it did not make it disappear. It looked more or less noticeable depending on the viewing angle. However, I could not feel the cut when I ran my finger across it. That is the useful part of the self-healing claim for me. The line remained visible, but I did not detect a raised ridge that would interfere with material placed over that area later.

I also checked whether the razor had cut through the mat. It had not. This was one deliberate cut, not a long-term durability test, but the mat feels fairly thick and heavy duty to me.

According to the seller listing, the mat has soft PVC surface layers and a rigid PVC middle layer intended to resist blade penetration. The listing gives its overall dimensions as 36.8 by 24.8 inches and its grid dimensions as 36 by 24 inches. It also identifies 30-, 45-, and 60-degree guide lines. Those construction details and overall dimensions come from the listing, not from my hands-on test.

I also prefer the gray and black color combination to the green cutting mats I am used to seeing. The two measurement systems and angle markings make the mat practical for both demonstrations and cutting projects.

I cannot say how the surface will hold up after months of repeated cutting. In this first test, though, the blade did not penetrate the mat, and the visible cut did not leave a ridge I could feel. I am happy with the purchase and think it suits the work I bought it to do.
