ANCOON Portable Bluetooth Speaker Hands-On review video preview

I used the ANCOON portable Bluetooth speaker by the pool during a kids’ party, where it was splashed a little and continued working without an issue. The product listing describes it as IPX6 waterproof, but my firsthand experience was limited to those splashes. I did not submerge it or perform a formal water-resistance test.

Pairing was straightforward once I figured out the power button. Starting with the speaker off, I held that button while turning it on. The speaker then appeared in my device’s Bluetooth menu and connected without trouble.

The physical controls are simple and easy to reach. They include power, bass boost, volume down, play and pause, and volume up. There is also an M button, although I did not determine what it does. Another button changes the lighting effects. I cycled through the visualizations while playing music, and the lights added a fun element to the speaker.

During my music demo, the speaker produced good bass and sounded loud for its size. At close to maximum volume, it filled my garage with sound. Based on that demonstration, I thought it had enough output for a small backyard. That is my impression from using it in the garage, not a measured volume result or a comparison test.

The speaker also feels solidly built. I described it during the review as feeling like a tank, although I did not conduct a drop or impact test. It is still portable enough to carry around. I estimated that it weighs about five pounds and measures roughly 12 inches tall by six inches wide, but I did not verify those estimates with a scale or tape measure.

The seller listing specifies an 80-watt peak output, a built-in 10,000mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.3, six lighting modes, and support for pairing two speakers through TWS. It also claims more than 20 hours of playback on a full charge, depending on volume. I did not independently test the peak output, battery capacity, runtime, Bluetooth version, number of lighting modes, or TWS function. The listing also says the speaker does not include AM/FM radio.

Overall, I liked this speaker because it was easy to connect, loud enough for the space where I used it, and convenient to carry. The lighting effects are enjoyable, the bass sounded good during my demo, and the speaker handled the light poolside splashing it encountered.
