I wasn’t sure about this desk when we first got it, but it has worked well in our house. We really like how it looks. The listing describes it as a 47.2-inch solid wood desk in a walnut finish. I’d call the appearance walnut or walnut-look because I can’t confirm the exact wood species.
The two drawer fronts have vertical fluting, which gives the desk a modern look without making the design too elaborate. It also fits well with the style of our home.
The desktop feels very smooth, and the desk feels pretty solid to me. I also appreciate that it’s finished on every side. Unlike some modern furniture with an unfinished back that needs to face a wall, this desk looks finished from the rear too.
The two drawers aren’t soft-close, but in my experience, they open and close smoothly. They also aren’t designed to lift straight out. You would need to remove the screws to take them off.
For care, I treat the desk as I would other wood furniture. I dust it as needed and wipe up spills promptly instead of letting moisture sit on the surface. I haven’t found that it requires any other special care.
